Climate Risk Pty Ltd has opened an office on the Sydney’s northern beaches at Fairlight. Occupying a solar powered, naturally ventilated sustainability showcase was a joint strategic decision for Climate Risk’s directors and staff. ”Having great access to the city with ferry and bus services on our doorstep allows us to meet our clients needs and ensure a pleasant working environment with beaches and Manly’s cafes nearby” said Dr Karl Mallon, Scientific and Technical Director. “Managing our own exposure to impacts, demonstrates our commitment to good corporate sustainability practice. An excellent working environment also helps us deliver higher productivity” commented Gareth Johnston, Director Business Strategy.
Climate Risk is a joint venture between strategic change consultants, Caledonia Consulting Group Pty Ltd, and science specialists, Transition Institute Pty Ltd. It provides location specific climate impact assessment reports for industry, government and private clients.
Its formation in late 2005, came about following recognition that climate change offers both opportunities and threats to business. For example, in property investment, few can afford to employ in house up to the minute scientific advisors or have the capacity to develop strategic foresight plans in significant detail. CR allows clients to assess and manage climate risk impacts, informing clients in market and sectoral adaptation.
